Logging free tools

We created the following tools to help you do a better job in the field classifying soil and logging soil borings.

USCS Triangle

The USCS Triangle (below) helps geologists and engineers master the ASTM Standard Practice for Description and Identification of Soil (Visual-Manual Procedure, D2488). The USCS Triangle is a graphical representation of the ASTM Standard. Please click on the below images to download a copy of the USCS Triangle and the accompanying USCS Triangle Guide. The USCS Triangle is formatted to print on 11×17 paper (US) and can be laminated for field use.

Field Chart for Fine Soil Tests

The Field Chart for Identifying Inorganic Fine-Grained Soils from Manual Tests (below) helps geologists and engineers more easily classify fine-grained soil based on manual field tests. This chart is a graphical representation of the ranges listed in Table 12 of the ASTM Standard Practice for Description and Identification of Soil (Visual-Manual Procedure, D2488). Please click on the image below to download a copy of the Field Chart for Fine Soil Tests.

Field Logging Forms

The Field Logging Forms help geologists and engineers record field logging data more quickly, completely, and consistently. Once field data is entered on the forms, the data can easily be transferred to our online boring log software and boring and well logs generated. Please click on the image below to download a copy of the Field Logging Forms. If your current field logging forms need revising and you would like us to review them and provide suggestions, please contact us.
